As many of you know I have worked at Glendale Community College (GCC) since December of 1987. My main job is as the Senior Physics Lab Technician. In this function my primary duties are:
1. Security & safety of the physics stockroom
2. Maintenance of the physics lab & demo equipment
3. Maintenance of the Physical Science Computing Labs consisting of:
a. the Mac desktop lab in Camino Real 146 (17 Macs)
b. The Physics Rolling Mac Lab (21 MacBook Airs)
c. The Chemistry Rolling Mac Lab (31 MacBooks)
With all of the above items I was helped by the Assistant Computer Lab Technician Markus C. Duran. In June 2010 Markus took a better position as ‘Mr. Mom’ for his son, Arlo. In his stead Barbara Falkowski has stepped in and she is doing a marvelous job. I would also like to thank the myriad of student workers and volunteers that have given their time and intelligence in keeping the Physics Department in great shape. Bravo to all!.
From May of 2005 to January of 2009 I was involved with GCC’s Outreach Program, where I prepared and presented material to elementary school students covering the subjects of Energy, Electricity, & Optics. Finally, I also produced CD’s containing educational material for elementary school teachers that participate in our outreach program. In this area I worked with Judy Hartman, & Joy Hinckley with help from Paul Buehler and Dr. Jean Lecuyer. Sadly, my involvement with the Outreach Program came to an end in Jan ’09 due to budget cuts.
Outside of my technician’s position, I teach physics and occasionally mathematics.
